Egypt: Court acquits trade union leader Mahmoud Rayhan of insulting the President

EGYPT- The Court of Misdemeanor acquits the union leader Mahmoud Rayhan at Cairo Airport Company, who was detained for weeks for a complaint that was filed against him by the airport security on charges of insulting the president and disclosure the national security secrets on his Facebook page.
It should be noted that Rayhan has been targeted for a while for his request to refer one of the files of corruption in Cairo Airport Company to the public prosecution.
Sharan Burrow, Secretary General of ITUC, that represents 176 million workers in 161 countries and 325 of trade union federations, has sent a letter to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urging him to intervene releasing Rayhan and to address the ongoing targeting against trade union leaders, in line with the Egyptian constitution and the international conventions ratified by Egypt, which guarantee freedom of association and expression.
