ALGERIA- The General Workers Confederation (CIGATA) in Algeria expressed dissatisfaction with amendments made by government in Article No. 87 of Labor Code. CIGATA condemned the government’s silence about lack of wage increase, which was long awaited by thousands of workers of different categories and segments.
CIGATA announced that it would not give up vis-à-vis the abolition of Article 87 following deterioration of purchasing power of workers and their inability to purchase the simplest daily necessities. CIGATA also announced that it would exert utmost efforts to remove this article in order for workers to be liberated and for their purchasing power to improve.
