EGYPT – Workers in Egypt pledged to “reject protests” in exchange for stability they are looking for during the reign ofincumbent president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi
Gebali El Maraghi, head of General Federation of Trade Unions in Egypt, stressed that workers decided to present a code of conduct to Al-Sisi ensuring their rejection for protests and strikes in exchange for country’s stability.
He added that “we respect the law, and cannot violate it. However, each time has its circumstances and requirements”.
The code of conduct that its issuance coincides with the Labor Day ensures that Egyptian workers respect law, away from political or religious biases, and they are aware that realizing workers’ interest cannot be achieved except within a stable and peaceful environment.
The code also stipulates workers’ rejection for protests and ensuring their commitment to the social dialogue with government and employers to achieve social justice and stability.
