An Egyptian worker wins a case against his company

EGYPT— Shubrah Appeal Court has ruled that a worker at the Egyptian Spinning and Weaving Company is entitled to receive a 40 % of his basic salary as a “hazard” pay to be disbursed retroactively for a period of five years.

Essam Tabbakh, the worker’s lawyer, filed the lawsuit against the company; the first instance court sentenced the eligibility of the worker for that right. The Appeal court also issued the same rule to confirm the worker’s eligibility for that pay.

In a statement he made following the announcement of the court’s decision, the lawyer told some 500 workers attending the hearing that they should resort to the law whenever they have complaints.
