The Independent Trade Union Current of Lebanon support teachers’ strike

LEBANON— In response to the threatens of the Lebanese minister of education directed against teachers of the secondary stage for striking, the Independent Trade Union Current said these threatens are against freedoms.

They added that strikes are protected by the Constitution, and the minister has no right to threaten teachers.

A statement issued by the Current, said instead of threatening teachers, the minister should have guaranteed the teachers’ rights and lobbied the Cabinet to refer the draft law that ensures better rights for teachers to the Parliament.

The Current also stressed supporting teachers in their decision to strike in the period between October 24 and until November 4.
