Saudi announces stages for implementing the Wages Protection System

SAUDI ARABIA— The Ministry of Labour in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the phases for implementing the Wages Protection System for the establishments with less than 100 and more than 11 workers,

The system will be implemented starting February 2016 on establishments with no more than 99 workers and the ones that employ no less than 80 workers. Meanwhile those institutions with 14 workers and 11 workers, will see the implementation of the system as of September 2017. The date for the application on the system in the establishments with less than 11 workers will be set later.

Those institutions that delay the payment of wages will have time 3,000 SR in fine.

According to the ministry’s estimates, there are 3,595 that employ 100 workers and more. The system will be implemented in these establishments as of November 1, 2015.
