JORDAN— Thirty seven workers in clearance companies in Aqaba governorate embarked on an open-ended hunger strike in protest against a decision to transfer their work station to the “custom yard” number four that they call “death yard”.
The hunger strike came as an escalated measure following a protest that witnessed the participation of some 200 workers on Friday.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said number of strikers is on the rose, and they will continue their hunger strike until an alternative solution is reached.
He said, the yard is located 25km away from the city center and this consumes time, while many road accidents take place there.
