Study: Education quality affects preparedness for the Job market in Jordan

JORDAN— Poor quality of education, weak teachers and lecturers, in addition to the lack of training during the study period affect the quality of graduates and their readiness to the job marker, said a recent study.

Conducted by the Phenix Centre for Economic and Informatics studies showed that there is a gap between the quality of education provided to students and the needs of the job market.

It added that university education depends on “spoon feeding”, without encouraging creativity and the admission criteria for university is still based on the quota has affected the quality of education system.

The study also showed that the university education does not serve students and provide them for the job market and this does not address the unemployment problem.

According to the study, working conditions in the private sector are usually more demanding and requires a student to master languages, computer skills and programming, while work conditions in the irregular jobs are hazardous though needs less capital.

The study recommended the need to rehabilitate teachers and introduce criteria to evaluate their capabilities to ensure better quality education.
