Kuwait – activist shared a video on social networks showed an Egyptian migrant in Kuwait exposed to torture and humiliation, by a Kuwaiti sponsor.
The worker appeared completely naked in the video and tortured by the sponsor who was beating and insulting him, the video sparked a wave of anger on social networks among the Egyptians.
Kuwaiti Interior Ministry announced Sunday the arrest of the Kuwaiti who is accused of assaulting and humiliating a young Egyptian in an incident that took place a year and half ago according to the police, following the video that became viral on social media. Another Egyptian man was arrested for filming and posting the video online.
The statement said that the defendants confessed Monday and told police he assaulted the Egyptian, who works for him, after a theft occurred at the mobile store that he owns. The statement concluded that the investigation is in progress pending referral of the two suspects to public prosecution.
