Lebanon – Urgent Matters Judge in Beirut issued a decree banning the deportation of member of the General Council and the General Assembly Nepalese workers Rose Limbu for two weeks, until they decide on allowing her to hire a lawyer. Lebanese authorities arrested her on the 5th of this month and she is still being held since that time without declaring the reason for detention.
She and her collogue Sujana Rana who is an active member of the Migrant Domestic Community were not allowed to hire a lawyer and she was deported on Sunday. This decision comes after a number of activists and lawyers expressed their fear of the possibility of deportation Rosa Limbau, similar to what happened with Sujana Rana. The Lebanese National Federation of Trade Unions requested the court to stop deportation of Limbau and allowing her to appoint a lawyer to defend her. Accordingly, the judge Maalouf decided to inform the General Directorate of General Security his decision to prevent the deportation of Limbau for two weeks, to enable the Court to complete the investigation before issuing a final decision.
The Arab Trade Unions Confederation launched a campaign of solidarity through social media with all of the Arab Federation of Trade Unions in most countries of the Arab region
