Bahrain- Six sailors disembarked from their ship today after seven months of detention in Bahrains territorial waters because of a court order issued upon a lawsuit filed by one of the companies against the owners of the ship.
Sailors said that their situation is tragic, and wished for a quick solution to end their suffering, as they did not get paid for the whole period of the detention while some of the sailors had their contract terminated and were not allowed to leave the ship for 7 months.
The sailors were not able to leave the ship until the Bahraini trade union intervened and communicated with the concerned parties in order to let the sailors leave the ship as an initiative to alleviate their suffering after spending several months inside the ship.
Six out of the 11 sailors were allowed to leave the ship and come back after five hours, and the rest will leave on Friday and go back in again until solving their problem
