Together we're stronger
The Arab Trade Union confederation was established in 2008 after the emergence of an Arab trade union awareness among the member trade union organizations of the International Trade Union Confederation. The aim was to create a democratic Arab trade union structure capable of keeping pace with the profound changes occurring in labor markets in the Arab region and to introduce a new model for the Arab trade union movement that can provide answers to issues of democracy, freedoms, trade union rights, and to enhance social dialogue and collective bargaining. It also aims to increase union membership among women and youth, in addition to actively engaging in achieving sustainable development goals.
The deep political changes that the Arab region witnessed in 2011 and 2012 were a significant opportunity to launch consultations for the establishment of the Arab Trade Union confederation, in which all Arab trade union organizations that are members of the International Trade Union Confederation participated. This culminated in October 2014 with the establishment of the Arab Trade Union confederation, fully supported by the International Trade Union Confederation."
