Between March and July, Spain is expected to receive more than 16,000 Moroccan seasonal female farmers in strawberry farms to avoid losing part of the crop, as happened last season.
This strong demand for Moroccan labour signals the recovery of the Spanish economy. Indeed, during the economic crisis that began in 2008, Spaniards replaced Moroccans with seasonal opportunities in agriculture.
Last Friday, “Ben and Wiragel” started the registration process for strawberry farms under the supervision of the operating agency ANAPEC under strict conditions, among which the most important one is that the worker has children of minors and she should not exceed the age of 45 years.
