After the announcement of the dispersal of the workers’ sit-in of the Horizon Investment and Industrial Development Company (Ceramica Granito) last Tuesday, after a meeting with the general manager of the group, during which he expressed his agreement to all the workers’ demands, and promised them the actual implementation of these demands by the beginning of next January.
Union sources announced that the sit-in is continuing in light of the failure to raise the grievance of the expulsion of 21 workers, including three members of the union, who are Mahmoud Hilal, Ibrahim Haddad and Muhammad al-Sayed Ratib.
The Granito workers had organized a sit-in seven days ago, which began on Thursday, August 6, 2020, to protest the administration’s disregard for their demands, which were represented in increasing wages, increasing the meal allowance and disbursing profits that the company had not spent three years ago in the face of the administration’s procrastination in responding to them or deciding on their demands.
