A survey showed that one in three UK employers expected to lay off employees between July and September.
According to the BBC, the research by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and recruitment firm ADIC showed a 50 % leap in the number of employers expecting job cuts, compared to three months ago.
In the private sector, 38 % of firms are planning to lay off workers, compared to 16 % in the public sector. Firms with employment plans increased, but the numbers were lower than in previous years.
A poll also showed that there are 1.778 companies in June that said they intend to cut more than 139.000 jobs in England, Wales and Scotland.
