The Mauritanian government ratified a decree amending the terms of employment of foreign labour force and procedures for granting a work permit.
The new amendment includes several measures, first, the increase of Mauritanian workers. It stipulates that any employer with more than 8 workers must have a plan to recruit Mauritanian workers. In case the number of workers is less than eight, the new amendment stipulatesthat itprovides work of Mauritanians who has the competence, and if this is not possible, he has to be trained by the foreign worker to replace him after a specified period.
The major institutions will be responsible for applying these conditions on the small companies that deal with them, as well as requiring employers to submit a request to the Ministry of Supervision before that of emolyment. This demand shall be forwarded to the Ministry of Employment to ensure that the required procedures are available.
