Female school teachers in “Omran “governorate received direct threats from the Houthis if theygo on strike, protesting against the cut of their salariesfor more than a year.
Indeed, the teacher launched their strike, which was 100% successful. This led the Minister of Education, “Yahya Al-Houthi” accompaniedwith dozens of people to the educational complex” Al-Nour”, to break the strike by force and attack them morally with offensive words, threatening of their replacement with other teachers. They also threatened to kidnap their parents or their husbands as a form of extortion.
It noteworthy that “Nour” complex in Omran governorate includes more than 70 female teachers.It is a complex for female students at the primary and secondary levels, and it is the largest educational complex in the governorate. The Houthi militiaimpose several violations against the teachers of “Omran” governorate, through the arbitrarytransfers and replacements of teachers to other schools by force, as well as, turning schools into military barracks and sectarian incubators. Moreover, the kidnapping of teachers and forcing students to join the front lines, according to the teachers’ testimonies.
