Bahrain: A youth stand,asking for decent work standards

Participants in the trade union workshop held a stand, asking for the implementation of a decent work project, the suspension of temporary contracts, discrimination, and providing decent wages and a healthy working environment, under the supervision of theGeneral Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions to convey a message that decent work is one of the most important of youth demands and that all countries are binding to ensure it.

The Assistant Secretary of the youth secretariat of the General Federation, “Zainab Aboudib”, said that the organization has long been calling for the implementation of a decent work project, the respect for fair wages, a healthy work environment and a permanent contract that reflects the stability of the worker in his job.Noting that the fragile work is prevalent during this period,as workers suffer from low wages and irregular payments, and most of their contracts are temporary. Some companies have even hired workers for hours or for less than three months.
